Former Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger has named France as his favourite country to win the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
France play Australia in their opening match in Group D on Tuesday evening and will later face Denmark and Tunisia.
Didier Deschamps’ side has already lost the likes of Karim Benzema, Paul Pogba and N’Golo Kante, Presnel Kimpembe and Christopher Nkunku to injury.
Wenger, who is one of the most successful managers the Premier League has ever seen, told Wettbasis: “My number-one favourite is France. Not because I’m French by birth but because this Equipe Tricolore has the best attack.”
The former Monaco boss also sees South American giants, Brazil, Argentina, England and Spain as France’s closest challengers.
In matches played yesterday, England thrashed Iran 6-2, one of the five African representatives, Senegal failed to live up to expectations as they fell 2-0 to the Netherlands, while the United States of America were held to a 1-1 draw by Wales.
