AFCON 2021: Super Eagles Advance To Round Of 16


Super Eagles of Nigeria cruised past Sudan in their second leg of the African Cup of Nations 3-1 to advance to the next stage of the tournament.


Super Eagles took an early lead through Villarreal winger Samuel Chukwueze. The Nigerian set the ball rolling for the Super Eagles in the third minute from a Moses Simon pull-back.


Nigeria doubled their lead on the stroke of half-time when the ball went in off Taiwo Awoniyi and Simon rolled in a third straight after half-time. Walieldin Khedr pulled a goal back for Sudan from the penalty spot after Ola Aina was penalized for a challenge.

 

Nigeria has now joined Morocco and Cameroon on the stage after their first two games. Nigeria tops their group with six points likewise host Cameroon and Morocco. Egypt will be playing Equatorial Guinea later today with the hope of recording their first win in the tournament.
