How United Nations Hope To Battle Corruption In Nigeria

United Nations, UN has come up with new tactics to tackle corruption in Nigeria through an initiative from its branch that goes under the auspices of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, UNODC.

Although, the initiative will feature in a couple of other African countries like South Africa, Kenya, Egypt, Senegal, and of course, Nigeria.

The name is ‘Hackathon’, and it will last for one month. As for the purpose of the programme and what it actually entails, Hackathon hopes to render assistance to youth innovations and deploy recent technologies in the global fight against corruption.

This information was contained in a statement issued to journalists yesterday by Olivia Ogechi Okorondu, the Communications Associate, UNODC’s Hackathon – Coding4Integrity.

The initiative is one of the ways UNODC is actively working to promote the development of sustainable ICT-based anti-corruption solutions and, ultimately, to advance the implementation of the United Nations Convention against Corruption, UNCAC.

The statement read that the organisation received over 1700 applications from Nigeria – the most significant number of entries across all five countries participating in the anti-corruption Hackathon.
