AC Milan missed the chance to go top of Italian Serie A as they were forced to a 1-1 draw by Inter in the Milan derby.
The home team Milan levelled the scores in the 17 minutes of the game through Stefan de Vrij own goal after the visitors had opened the scoring in the first eleven-minute of the game from the penalty spot through Hakan Calhanoglu.
Inter Milan would have won the day when they were given a second penalty. Still, Lautaro Martinez had the penalty saved by AC Milan goalkeeper Alexis Saelemaekers hit the post late, and Franck Kessie put the rebound wide.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic had also seen a late free-kick superbly kept out by Inter Milan goalkeeper Samir Handanovic as AC Milan finished strongly but could not get the winner.
Napoli remains the Italian Serie A leader with the same points as Milan but tops with goal difference. Inter Milan and Atalanta are in the third and fourth place position, respectively.
