Nigerian afro-beats superstar Ayodeji Balogun, popularly known as Wizkid, has been tipped to bag a nomination for the 2022 Grammy awards with his 'Made in Lagos' album.
According to a feature by Billboard magazine—an American music and entertainment magazine published weekly that has been in existence since 1894—Wizkid's most recent album has a chance of being nominated for the 2022 Grammys.
According to Billboard, their best bets on artistes to bag a Grammy album nomination include: Doja Cat - 'Planet Her', Drake - 'Certified Lover Boy', Billie Eilish - 'Happier Than Ever', Ariana Grande - 'Positions', H.E.R. - 'Back of My Mind', Lil Nas X - 'Montero', Olivia Rodrigo - 'Sour', and Taylor Swift - 'Evermore'.
Going further, they cited Wizkid's fourth studio album, 'Made in Lagos' as an alternate to their 'best bets' list of artistes whose albums will bag a Grammy nomination.
The Billboard alternates list also includes: Justin Bieber - 'Justice', Kanye West - 'Donda', Halsey - 'If I Can’t Have Love, I Want Power', Megan Thee Stallion - 'Good News', and a host of other top albums.
Wizkid's Made in Lagos was released on October 3oth, 2020, a star-studded album that comprises of 14 perfect-looking tracks including collabos with the likes of Burna Boy, Skepta, Damian Marley, H.E.R, Ella Mai, Tay Iwar, Projexx, Tems and Starboy Terri.
The project recently broke an African record as his 'Made in Lagos' album spent a total of forty-six weeks on the Billboard World Albums charts, the longest an African album has spent on the chart.
